“Dune: Part Two” by Denis Villeneuve is finally going to theaters after a long, hard, sand-filled road. No one could wait for years. Some people have already said things about the sci-fi tale on social media, and it looks like most people agree with what they’ve read.
X (formerly known as Twitter) user @SirJeffNelson wrote, “#DunePartTwo is a visually-monumental epic that never fails to immerse in its world,” which was similar to what many other people said. “The narrative and its characters still beg for greater depth in this expansive mythos, but the action certainly goes much harder than Part One.”
Overall, the first reactions to “Dune 2” are very good, with almost all viewers praising Villeneuve’s direction. This is an amazing, action-packed work by Denis Villeneuve set in a deep, complicated story. The movie is so amazing and moving that it needs to be seen on the biggest, most engaging screen possible. I liked it. @BrandonDavisBD called the movie “a masterpiece” and said it was “new and exciting.”
Villeneuve just can’t miss, it looks like. People are more excited than ever about the sci-fi epic. The movie is expected to make over $65 million in its first weekend, giving Warner Bros. another much-needed victory.
Oh No! Dune 2 is a Hit With Everyone
Most of the time, you shouldn’t believe what people say on social media because they’re just trying to get attention. But based on how quickly Warner Bros. wants people to talk about it online, “Dune 2” looks like a real winner that is better than the first one in some way. “Amazing movie-making. Wonderful score. “The whole cast was great,” wrote @colliderfrosty, adding that they wished the almost three-hour movie was longer.
@ScottMendelson, on the other hand, loved the movie but thought it lost its way. “#DunePartTwo is an audio/visual triumph on par with (relatively speaking) ‘John Wick 4’ or ‘Avatar 2’,” they wrote. It has good acting and some smart action scenes, but, like DUNE 1, it’s a 2.5-hour movie that mostly runs out of the story after 90 minutes and stops moving until the end.
These good reviews are mostly in line with the positive reviews the first movie got—it has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The review ban for “Dune 2” won’t go away until February 21, which is too bad. Fans can enjoy @griffschiller’s words until then, who said that “Dune 2” was Denis Villeneuve’s biggest success to date. “#DunePartTwo is not only Denis’s most important work, it’s also the best sci-fi epic of our time.” A sad story about blind zeal and dishonesty. A stunning, emotional, and awe-inspiring lesson in style and mood that beautifully echoes Paul’s rough journey. “Taught me nothing!” they wrote.
Some viewers were really into how well Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya got along. @DorianParksnRec even called it “unmatched.” A person on X called @Lulamaybelle thought the movie had great acting. They wrote, “Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya do a remarkable job, and Austin Butler is completely transformative, captivating, and seductively evil.” Yet another impressive show from Dave Bautista. The screen is torn apart by Rebecca Ferguson. Florence Pugh does her best job yet.”
On March 1, 2024, “Dune: Part Two” will come out.
